Baseband Prototype Based on a COTS embedded development board, the critical algorithm for the base band processing unit has been implemented on an FPGA. The development board consisting of a multi purpose PCI mezzanine board with two PMC slots and a PMC module with a FPGA based reconfigurable computer has been integrated in a 19' rack PC system. The development system follows a flexible design concept, which is shown below. This enables base band processing either with simulated or generated digital base band signals, simulated RF or signal in space.
