CityGuide Berchtesgaden For test and demonstration purposes in the field of tourism a “digital cityguide“ for the city of Berchtesgaden was developed:
Based on a mobile and compact terminal (Pocket PC), tourists and interested visitors are provided with localized information. The tourist is guided along a historic walking
route through Berchtesgaden which has been prepared by the Nationalpark administration. At numerous points like buildings, parks etc. the visitor learns interesting
historic facts automatically provided by the digital CityGuide.
The user position is determined by means of GPS with additional assisted data that are transferred via UMTS. Since also GATE
will be available from summer 2007 an updated version of the CityGuide will be prepared later including also GATE signals for position determination.  |
